What We DON'T Collect

SubExtractor is designed with privacy-first principles. We do not collect, store, or have access to:

• Video content or captions extracted by you

• Analytics or usage tracking data

What is Processed Locally

All processing happens entirely on your device. The following data is processed locally and never leaves your device:

• Caption text extracted from videos
• Temporary processing cache (automatically cleared)
• User preferences and app settings
• Extraction history (stored locally only)

Platform Data

To extract captions, SubExtractor accesses captions from video platforms (YouTube, JW.org, etc.). We collect only the minimal metadata necessary:

• Video caption data from the platform's own systems
• No platform identifiers are tracked or stored
• No user accounts or login data is required

2. How SubExtractor Works

On-Device Processing

SubExtractor operates with a zero-server architecture. All processing happens on your device only:

• AI models run locally on your device for caption extraction
• Text processing is performed completely offline
• No data is sent to external servers or APIs
• No cloud infrastructure is involved

Extraction Process

When you extract captions:

1. The app/extension accesses the video platform's caption feed
2. Captions are processed locally using on-device AI
3. Results are displayed on your device
4. You choose whether to save, copy, or share the extracted text
5. Temporary processing data is automatically cleared

3. Data Storage and Retention

Local Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

• Extraction history stored in app's local database
• User preferences stored in device storage
• Cached caption data stored temporarily during processing
• All data controlled completely by you

Automatic Clearing

Temporary data is automatically cleared:

• Processing cache clears after each extraction
• Temporary files deleted after use
• Session data cleared on app close (optional)

No Cloud Storage

We do not use:

• Cloud databases or storage services
• Backup servers for user data
• Third-party data storage providers
• Any external data persistence beyond your device

User Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete extraction history anytime through the app
• Clear all local data with one tap
• Uninstall the app to completely remove all data
• Export or backup your preferences manually

4. Security Measures

On-Device Security

Your data is protected by the security features of your device:

• iOS security framework for iPhone/iPad apps
• Chrome security sandbox for browser extensions
• Device-level encryption for stored data

Platform APIs

SubExtractor accesses public caption data from video platforms:

Third-Party Policies

When you use SubExtractor to extract captions from video platforms, those platforms' privacy policies apply to their own data collection. SubExtractor does not share your information with these platforms.
